Welcome to the Quizzes App
Beta testing version

Apologies, the link below went to an earlier version of this App. It has now been fixed (15/04 - 14:30hrs)!  If you couldn't get it to work, that is why!
Note: This App comprises four sheets accessible by tapping on the respective Tab.  Depending on the device being used, it may show as named Tabs or be in a dropdown menu (still naming the Tabs), shown as 5 or 6 horizontal lines.

  Introduction

Welcome to this Quizzes App, containing over 700 questions (and answers) from a "Kids" section (165 questions), General Knowledge (400+ questions) through to specialist sections such as Science and History, each with a smaller number of questions.

The App can be set up to be viewed simultaneously on multiple devices (throughout the world). All that is required is connectivity (it only uses a minimal amount of broadband data).  This attribute is obviously ideal at a time of global "social isolation"!

First we need to establish whether you are visiting as a potential host or as a player (you can be either, its just that the instructions are different).  Select below.

  Hosting instructions

As mentioned previous, the QuizzesApp has a collaboration feature the use of which is optional.   If you are intending to only use one device it is unnecessary, unless you are wanting to save a game.

In addition to the use of the collaboration feature, the game experience can be enhanced by using an Audio or Video App such as Skype or Zoom (search using Google to find).  This could mean participants are a mix of teams playing using an audio and video linking as well as those folloowing the game on their own devices.

There are a number of ways the App can be used and we suggest that "House Rules" are devised by the "Host" of a particular game.  We suggest the fairest way is that each question is answered by all players, (writing down their answer) because they vary widely in degrees of difficulty.

The App has been designed to allow a scorer (usually the host) to keep track of up to 10 players (individuals or teams).

  Player login

As a player you don't need to worry about the setting up procedures for this App, that will all have been done.  To play you will have been given two components of the Login, a name or random letters (at least 5) and a five digit number.  Enter them in the cells below, tap somewhere else on the screen and you will see a Login button.  Tap and that and you will join the game.

  Setting up

The first step is for any group to agree on a host.  This person will then be responsible for (i) inviting the participants; (ii)  game's host will establish a login and email or text it to those invited to play the game.  Rather than spending a whole lot of time trying to explain how it works, let's going through the process.  [You can see how the process works by logging in on two devises, operating with one and observing on the other.]

For more information about each section, tap the (i) to the left to see the pop-up explanation.

  Introduction

There are two tasks required on this page.  The first is to create a Login.  This is required if either you want to play the game on more than one device or you want to save a game.  Once you've created the Login URL and opened the App using it, you need to Bookmark (of save to Home Screen on a mobile device).

The second task is to enter the names of your players (either teams or individuals).  You have the option of either entering them in their turn order or allow the App to put them in a random order.  Whichever you select will transfer to the Questions page where the score can be kept, as part of Creating the login.

  The quiz options
There are seven questions sections in the quiz, starting with 165 questions for kids. There is then a general knowledge section (330 questions) followed by some specialist subjects. Select the range of subjects you want included. There are 740 questions in total.  There are an infinite number of ways the questions can be used as the basis for a competition. The house rules of the host prevail! Have fun.

For a new question, tap on the Next button.
You can add players after the initial setup but the number here needs to tally with the number of names you've got before you'll see a question.
